Brown Cardy

One is always particularly chuffed when One has managed to knit something that One might wear....

...even if it is only a Brown Cardy.

It looks like an ORDINARY Brown Cardy but really it is a very special Brown Cardy made from baby alpaca wool (Eki Riva 8ply for the rabid knitters amongst you), in the round, the front opening steeked, the collar double knitted - oops - forgive One - that is all for the rabid knitters amongst you.

It FEELS divine against the skin.

And it FOLDS beautifully too don't you think.

Oh and here is a gratuitous cat photo, another no ordinary brown thing.

a steek AND double knitting?! you meisteress of the needles.

and thank you for giving hope to all those random, heart-shaped buttons that we still have lying around, that one day they shall go to the ball.

Tres tres elegante. I must admit to not knowing what a steek is (in local jargon, it means stab).

Have been worrying about the closeness of the cyclone. Very glad to see you back on air.

Nothing 'one' do is never ordinary! I can feel the softness just looking at it - Hugs Nat

The brown cardy looks wonderful. I cant say I would like to do the steeking though, your very brave and it worked well too.

One has really got the folding down to a fine art :)

I love the buttons you chose! I'm not brave enough to steek just yet...I'll save that for another time

oh and before I forget...I can buy one of your books when I get to London right? Been also wondering how I find where your section will be as I've never been to Olympia before. I will only have a short time the morning I'm there ( I have a baby's 1st birthday to attend just after) and the only thing I care about is saying hi to you cause I think your great :)

I'm impressed by your steeking of alpaca, since it's slippery. I assume you sewed it before you cut into it, or perhaps did a crochet chain. The sweater looks grand.

Your brown cardy is divine. I have seen some truly terrible brown cardies in op shops, but they would not have felt amazing against the skin, or folded beautifully, and they definitely will not have been made with alpaca! Amazing work,it looks lovely on you! I am yet to knit myself something to wear, but I am so close to finding the right pattern! And now after that I am even more inspired....!!!!!
Oh and Loani, I would so love to join your tea cozy club, I have just posted a fun cozy and would love to pop in on wild for tea cozies, how might I go about becoming one of your tea cozy friends???!!!

Is there a chance you might tell a rabid knitter what pattern you used for your special cardy? Please, with chocolate on top?

I love those mismatched buttons & Wes (is he Burmese?)! It's such a clever idea, if one falls off, then it doesn't matter if you have a spare!

Sorry sorry. There is no pattern. It was one of those evolving things. I just kept trying it on as I went, there was a bit of pulling out and adjusting etc etc. I didn't write one thing down. Nup not one thing.
Stupid? Game? Lucky? It seems to have worked.

I'm intrigued about this steeking -must go and google that one. You didn't mention the buttons - a little collection that sets off your cardi beautifully. Very impressive, especially without a pattern!

Why are you wearing a cardigan in a queensland summer? Why aren't you on the floor in a pool of sweat? By the way, it's a very nice cardigan. Will be terrific in a few months time.
